Sock It To ‘Em: Centennial vs Central Spirit Week

by The Centinal

By Jewel Goodly & Faith A. Middleton

“It’s not who wins the game, but how you play it.” These are the words etched on the spirit trophy award in honor of Centennial’s Clif Aldridge and Central’s Keegan Bannon. This week both Centennial and Central High schools are working with the United Way of Champaign County to collect new socks for the homeless men, women and children in the area. The school who collects the most pairs of new socks will win the spirit trophy award. The sock count will be Friday, October 12, 2012 during halftime at the Centennial vs. Central football game.  Although the schools are in rivalry during the game, both schools are working together to help the community and honor the memories of two men who died too young.

Socks can be dropped off in the main lobby at Centennial High School and placed in the yellow sock box. Bring socks!
