NHS Holds Toy Collection for Children in Need

by Faith A. Middleton

As can be seen from the vividly colored posters hung on the walls of Centennial, National Honor Society is holding its “Toys for  Tots” collection. New toys are being collected in the main lobby before and after school until December 6th.

There is a contest to go along with the collection: the class that donates the most toys wins a prize. The toys go to the Salvation Army organization and will be distributed to families and children in need this holiday season.

Samantha Wells, NHS secretary, was asked about the importance of the collection.

“We as students don’t expect anything from it, so it teaches us to give back,” Samantha Wells said. “It helps spread holiday cheer, too.”

National Honor Society is a volunteer organization open to Centennial upperclassmen with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
