Yes, it’s true! Centennial High School has officially announced that students will no longer be required to take physical education in order to graduate. This means no more mile warm-ups, fitness testings or the dreaded pacer test! Students may choose to opt out of this class and replace it with another class or have a free period at the end of the day in which they may go home or become a teacher’s assistant.

“As much as this pains me, it is true, students are no longer required to take PE,” confirms Ms. George, one of Centennials newest PE teachers.

Even though PE is no longer required, that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t be offered at school anymore. To all the PE hoopers, volleyball players, and soccer fanatics, you will still be able to participate in your favorite activities but the sign up process is very tedious. You will have to go talk to your counselor and sign up for the activity of your choice but if there aren’t enough people signed up for the activity you want, you have three choices: sign up for a different activity, sign up for a different class or just not take the class!

Ms. George also confirmed that if there is not enough people signed up for PE to fill an entire hour, they will be forced to take the class during zero hour. Zero hour commences at 7:10 AM and ends at 8:00 AM.

The news of this major change may be devastating but for some, but it is a relief to everyone else and they are excited that they are NOT required to take PE next year.

Before I go, I would like to say that you have been punk’d and this will probably never happen but Happy April Fools!
