Fiction Addiction Book Club at UIUC

On April 4, 2013 Centennial Library book club visited the University of Illinois Rare Book and Manuscript Library. This event was a joint field trip with the Jefferson Middle School Library club. Students learned about the care and collection of rare books from curator Caroline Szylowics. Students examined artist’s books-an artist’s book is a work of art as well as a book and is hand made, unique, and produced in any size, shape, or media- and early graphic novels. In March book club members and advanced photography students received a two hour workshop on making artist’s books by nationally recognized artist Bea Nettles. Student of the Week: Chelsea Cross

Chelsea Cross was a former writer and lead photographer on The Centinal. She is full of energy and always has her friends and classmates laughing. Chelsea is not only known for being a fun person but also a great student and an outstanding basketball player. The Centinal got the pleasure of interviewing her before the school year was over.
