Interact Doesn’t Waste Time Getting Involved
Interact is an entirely senior based and run club at Centennial High School. It is sponsored by Jeron Blood and the Rotary Club. The senior executive board includes Chris Piper as president, Mecca Muhammad as vice president, Annie Roh as internal secretary, Alle Roley as external secretary, and Ana Hosier as historian. They are dedicated to helping people in the community along with local and international charities.
Each month they decide on a service project, starting in September with their Homecoming Chili Supper. The Chili Supper is used as a fundraiser for the club. All the money goes toward funding all their services projects throughout the year. The Chili Supper was before the Homecoming football game on September 27th from 5-7pm. There was food, desserts, entertainment, music, and games. This year they had the biggest turnout and raised a lot of money by pre-selling tickets.
Their next service project for the month of October is the Haunted High. It will be a haunted house set up in Centennial, and profits will go to one local and one international charity.
When asked what made him want to be a part of Interact, president Chris Piper said, “I wanted to be a part of Interact because I really wanted to get involved and help the community. It’s extremely important to me to make a difference in the community. I decided to run for president because I wanted to lead the group and make sure we do everything we can to make this the best year of Interact yet. As president I hope I can lead the group in the right direction while also listening and learning from other group members.”
Chris Piper is most excited for Ausin’s day at the end of the school year. It’s his favorite service project because he thinks it makes the biggest impact on the community. They get to work with people outisde of the club and school to get everyone involved.
