Perfect Activities To Do in Fall

Now with the heat gone, we can start our favorite fall activities! If you live in Champaign, you know how good this season is.

One of the town’s favorites is our own Curtis Apple Orchard. It is a family owned business that started in the summer of 1977. You can do many things, like picking apples and pumpkins, feeding the goats, riding the horses, and playing in the barn. They are known for their mostly organic apple cider and produce, and not mention their delicious cinnamon-sugar or glazed donuts, apple cinnamon fritters, apple, cherry, and peach pies, and blackberry cobbler. Brent Bagniefski, a Centennial math teacher, said “I’ve never been there, but I want to because I’ve only heard good things.”

Other fall activities available in the area include:

  • Hiking at Lake of the Woods, Allerton Park, Kickapoo State Park, or Turkey Run
  • Carving pumpkins
  • Raking and then jumping in the leaf piles
  • Having a bonfire with your family and friends
  • Making hot chocolate
  • Attending fall festivals, for example the one at Robeson Elementary
