Student of the Week: Daniele Brookshire

by Lauren Miller

Daniele Brookshire is a bright and talented student at Centennial High School. She not only keeps her GPA high, but also participates in extracurricular activities. Brookshire discussed how she takes Choir as an elective course and is in National Honor Society where she helps the community.

Brookshire stated that the choir goes out on Illini Fridays to a local restaurant to donate money. The choir recently sang on Veterans Day for all of the veterans. She also said how they sing the National Anthem at Centennial games in which the band does not play for; these games include football, girls and boys basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, and swimming.

For National Honor Society (NHS), Brookshire does a lot of volunteer service work for the community. To get an idea of the work she does, she said, “My church group and I rake yards for shut-ins.” She is also a member of the Thespians, which collected canned food on Halloween to donate to underprivileged families, giving them a much better treat than a bag of candy.

Brookshire shares her love of music and performing as much as she can. She not only sings at choir concerts but also acts in Centennial’s plays and musicals. In her high school career, she has been in Hairspray, The Little Mermaid, and Alice in Wonderland. Brookshire always tries her best to make people feel good, not only with her volunteer work, but also with her love of singing and acting.
