Black Men on the Rise: Suit and Tie
This article was written with Steven Lee.
A select group of Centennial African-American students attended Central High School for a Counter-Narrative on Black Male Students as a part of Black History Month.
The group combined with multiple Central’s African American students to participate in the video. For the video, students had to dress up formally then had to model and look professional. The video demonstrates that not all African American males are thugs, criminals, and low life, which is the American stereotype of most black males. The majority of the males who participated in the video will most likely grow up someday to be successful athletes, doctors, lawyers, scientists, etc. This video sends a strong message out and hopefully will open some people’s eyes.
The video is available to view here.
