This week is one of the most important weeks for baseball in Champaign this year. The big Central vs. Centennial games are on Tuesday and Thursday. But this week, the teams are proving that the games are more than just a game. Both days, the schools are holding a fundraiser for Kelsey Kaiser.
Kelsey is the sister of seniors Peyton and Alyssa Kaiser at Centennial and a Central High School alumni. Kelsey is in a clinical trial for Multiple Sclerosis at Northwestern. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord and she has qualified for a stem cell transplant this fall.
Unfortunately, the stem cell transplant will cost more than $10,000 out of pocket for the Kaiser family. At both baseball games, all of the concession stand proceeds will go toward the Kaiser family in order to help pay for the transplant. There will also be a big raffle where tickets will be sold for $5 a piece or three tickets for $10. Winners of the raffle have the chance to win a $500 gift card to Mattress Boss, a Pete Rose autographed baseball, $100 cash, as well as gift cards to many more local businesses.
Be sure to come out to Centennial field for the game Thursday night at 6:30 to have the chance to watch a great game while also being able to donate to a great cause.
