This week’s Teacher Feature is Katie Bednar! Ms. Bednar just recently became a teacher at Centennial. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 2011 and was born in Brookfield, Illinois. This is her third year teaching Spanish.
The Centinal: Why did you decide to teach?
Ms. Bednar: Teaching runs in my family, so I grew up knowing I wanted to be a teacher. As I went through school, I always enjoyed helping my classmates, and I loved Spanish!
The Centinal: What do you like about teaching?
Ms. Bednar: Getting to know 100+ new students each year and seeing them grow into young adults. Also passing my passion for the Spanish language and culture on to my students.
The Centinal: Why did you decided to teach at Centennial?
Ms. Bednar: I attended the University of Illinois and did my student teaching in Unit 4. I grew to really love this community and my Centennial coworkers!
The Centinal: What don’t you like about teaching?
Ms. Bednar: The grading!
The Centinal: What is your biggest pet peeve students do?
Ms. Bednar: 2048! Or just cell phones in general.
The Centinal: What are your favorite sports teams?
Ms. Bednar: The Blackhawks, the Illini, the Bears, the White Sox, and the Bulls.
The Centinal: What is your favorite color?
Ms. Bednar: All shades of blue!
