Girls Tennis Goes For State!

by Gina Huss

Centennial’s ladies tennis team looks to have an another amazing season! These dedicated students practice Monday through Saturday either after school or early evening at the Lindsay Courts across the street from the new Leonhard Center. Unfortunately, it’s too late to get involved with this sport, but attending the matches and tournaments is always encouraged! If you are interested in trying out next year, “Students should know that it’s a hardworking but very rewarding environment,” junior Jenna DeLuce says.

Following the group last year that qualified for state, this year’s group is aiming to make it there again as well. Out of the six spots on varsity, four are returning girls and two are new additions. The future is looking very bright for these girls. Even though everyone in the program is working hard, “The sweet and hilarious personalities of this group make practices and matches very enjoyable,” DeLuce tells the Centinal.

The attendance to the matches in the past have been pretty low, but players encourage people to come out and support their fellow chargers as they work their way to state! The program will continue to have matches throughout September and October. Some upcoming events are the Charger Doubles Invite on September 27th and a home match against Mt. Zion on October 8th at four. We will check back in with the girl’s tennis team as it gets closer to sectionals and state!
