Chargers senior, Michael Braverman, finished in the top six as Centennial won the Champaign County Invitational last Tuesday and also won medalist honors at the Danville Viking Invitational in a second-place team finish for the Chargers last Friday. Braverman shot a 1-under-par 71 for the win. Not only is Braverman this week Student of the Week for The Centinal but he was also the Athlete of the Week last week for the News-Gazette.
“It was nice to accomplish because I finally started playing well and I was rewarded for it,” says Michael stating his feelings after his local recognition.
Michael is not only above average on the golf course but he’s also able to manage being a student-athlete. ‘The homework piles up,” considering Michael has to leave school a lot due to golf tournaments, ” It’s difficult to stay on top of things with classes”
Braverman recently been getting a lot of attention from his past performances against the Champaign County Invitational and the Danville Viking Invitational,” I have a lot of calls and texts and congratulating me in person.” He also says that winning the Danville Invite was probably one of his favorite moments in his high school golfing career.
Sadly, Braverman isn’t planning on playing golf in college. Instead, he has bigger dreams and plans on attending a college down south to study business. After a torn ligament in his wrist in the past, he decided to not play golf in college but to focus on his successful high school golf career.
We wished the best of luck to Michael and hopes he keeps working hard to achieve his dreams and goals!
