The Early Bird Gets the Worm

by Lindsey Taylor

Here at Centennial high school students are given the opportunity to graduate in December of their senior year and get a head start, whether it’s military, work, college, or anything else. We got the chance to speak to a couple of different students and figure out their reasoning for leaving early.

Jermaine Cotton-

Q: What are your plans for life after Centennial?

A: My plans after Centennial are to go to Illinois State University and major in sports medicine. Hoping to one day become a physical therapist.

Q: What made you want to graduate early?

A: I want to get out of here.

Q: Was it hard graduating early? Did you have to double up on classes?

A: I had to double up on English, but I’m good at English so it wasn’t a big deal.

Q: Are you going to miss Centennial?

A: Uh, kinda sorta.

Q: Are you excited to be done with high school?

A: Oh yessssssss!

Q: Will you still attend school events such as games and prom?

A: Of course.

Jimmy Fitzgerald-

A: To start school and start practicing with with the Illinois football team.

Yosra Nadhimi-

Q: What are your plans for life after Centennial?

A: I’m going to spend a semester at Parkland in the spring and hopefully the University of Illinois in the spring if everything goes as planned.

Q: What made you want to graduate early?

A: I felt it was unnecessary to stay the whole year and i wanted to excel and get a head start.

Q: Was it hard graduating early? Did you have to double up on classes?

A: It wasn’t hard but i had to double up on English which wasn’t that fun because it’s a lot of work.

Q: Are you going to miss Centennial?

A: I guess yeah, some aspects.

Q: Are you excited to be done with high school?

A:Yes very much.

Q: Will you still attend school events such as games and prom?

A: Probably not. Maybe. We will see

If you see these students around, make sure you wish them luck as they get ready to start their next journey in life!
