Taylor Feddersen is a junior at Centennial High school and on top of Student council, National Honors society, Key Club, and Mu-alpha-theta, Feddersen is also playing the Black Swan in the dance performance “Swan Lake.” The black swan is one of 3 main characters in the production.
“The black swan dances with the prince at the ball to fool him into declaring his love for her instead of his love for Oddette.” She said the role was very technically difficult, Feddersen has been taking dance classes since she was 3 years old and she joined her dance studio, Champaign Ballet Academy, when she was just 5 years old. Currently Feddersen only does ballet classes.
Although Champaign Ballet Academy does not have recitals, they do put on two performances a year, this year it was Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. Feddersen has danced in the Nutcracker for the past 12 years and has been the sugar plum fairy for 2. Feddersen spends 20 hours a week dancing only ballet classes which makes her the perfect fit for this technically advanced role.
The production of Swan Lake is put on by Champaign-Urbana ballet and Swan Lake dates are May 2nd and 3rd at the Virginia Theater.
