Throughout the past few months, Centennial’s English as a Second Language class has been learning about the American holiday of Thanksgiving. Thier teacher, Susan Feldman, wanted to teach about the holiday for some time before going to the Unit 4 school district’s director of English Second Language about a possible unit and meal for the class. This week’s Charger of the Week is senior, Jennica Estes! Jennica is a very outgoing person and loves to meet new people, she also is very book smart and an out standing student at Centennial. Jennica is involved in Centennial’s volleyball program and hopes to play volleyball in college.
This weekend several Centennial artists showed works at the Millikin University High School Art Show. Senior Pascale Grant received a $100 cash prize and $1,000 Millikin Scholarship with the Honorable Mention award for her mixed media piece, “Solitude”. Senior Amy Janson’s painting, “Simple Clarity”, earned Best in Show, with a $200 cash prize and $3,000 Millikin Scholarship. Congratulations to Grant and Janson and also to the other Charger artists. Melissa Corley, Alivia Dew, Nellie Huag, Ryan Ingersoll and Sophia Koester also had pieces in the show.
The 2015-16 season starts this Friday night for the Fighting Illini men’s basketball team.
Madame Orrison is a french teacher at Centennial High School. Madame teaches AP french and french 1, 3, and 4. Madame is also the sponsor of French Honors Society.
