Jay Hooper is one of the most prestigeous math teachers at Centennial. He has most recently been honored by the Central Illinois Business Magazine, being named one of the magazine’s Fourty Under 40 in October. The award acknowledges professionals under fourty in their respective careers.
What do you enjoy most about Centennial?
I enjoy the people the most. When people ask me ‘How do you like your job?’I reply “I love my colleagues and I really enjoy working with students”.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I play the piano, and I love readin. Recently, I’ve been dabbling in electronics. I just created a motion sensor/detector.
What’s your favorite food?
I love deep-dish pizza from Papa Dels!
What’s your favorite clothing brand?
If I were going to go buy new clothes right now, I’d probably go to express.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I’m a strong believer in the idea that where I am now, is where I’m supposed to be.
If you were given a million dollars for the day, what would you do with it?
I’d probably start by paying off my house, then I’d buy something for my wife and kids, and then I think I’d just try to find ways to help people.
One of Hooper’s colleagues, Brent Bagniefski, also had only high praise for his accomplishments and leadership. “I love his diplomacy and technological skills. He is simply amazing.” said Bagniefski.
