Congo Elections

Joseph Kabila the president of DRC has been in power over 15 years.

Since the assassination of his father former Congolese president Laurent-Desire Kabila. In 2001,according to the people he hasn’t done anything for the country. According to the country’s constitution  since 2006 , a president can be in power and serve only two consecutive five years terms. That means president  Joseph Kabila is not legally eligible for reelection this year.

Last month about 50 people died in clashes between security forces and protesters angered. The opposition leaders say “they plan further street protects to pressure President Joseph Kabila to call elections” they also said “we will keep up the pressure and announce more street actions and more demonstrations until Mr Kabila is removed from office”
