With fall comes girls golf here at Centennial. The girls golf team has the largest number of players within the past few years. Although this 2017 team has no seniors, the CHS golfers are wise beyond their years. The team is led by juniors Claire Sherrick, Jordan DeLuce, Mariah Winterbottom, Addison Archer, and Kate Doyle. The youthful team has had to step up this year to challenge themselves to be the best they can be.
Junior Claire Sherrick explained, “I think that the team is a lot better than we were at the beginning of the season. We also have a lot more girls than last season which is very nice”. The Chargers are getting better each day, and show no signs of slowing down. A big help on this year’s team is the great group of girls. When I sat down with junior Jordan DeLuce the major point that she focus on was the teams’ positive attitude and the ways that the players find to cheer each other up.
Unlike many other Charger teams, the golf team does not have many matches in town. The Lady Chargers practice at Orange and Blue Golf Course on the University of Illinois campus, and their upcoming matches are in Matoon and Bloomington. Please come out and support this young, but mighty golf team.
