I personally hate the dress code mainly because it’s just another reason for students and teachers not to get along.
Centennial football had a good year overall, it was kind of a tough season but they did the best they could scoring touchdowns and making the news a few times. They ended with a record of 2-9. Most of the seniors didn’t like it but they’re just going to continue their season in college hopefully and the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen that played can try again next year because now they have that experience that can get them far.
Battle of the Sexes: Two Fantastic Leads Almost Make Up For The Fact That I Didn’t Get The Film I Signed Up For.
I had been looking forward to Battle of the Sexes ever since I saw the first trailer. A biopic centered around one the most viewed tennis matches in history doesn’t sound incredibly exciting at first, especially if you’re not a huge sports fan. However, when the match was between the current female champion Billie Jean King and former male tennis star Bobby Riggs, a lot of layers are added to the story. Not to mention the fact that recent Oscar winner, Emma Stone, and experienced comedic and dramatic actor Steve Carell were taking up the lead roles. By all accounts this film should have been nearly perfect, and while I definitely enjoyed myself, the pacing was off, the finale didn’t have the impact it needed, and ultimately it wasn’t the film that the trailers promised.
A few weeks ago, IHSA (Illinois High School Association) 2A Boys Sectionals golf tournament was located at the University of Illinois Golf course. Champaign Centennial competed at this tournament and shot their best tournament score of a 336. Their scores consisted of a 79 by Senior Connor Hagan, 82 by Senior Hans Dee, 85 by Sophomore Damien Mcmullen, and 89 by Junior Thomas Green. The team placed 7th out of 12 teams, they were 28 shots away from attaining 3rd place and advancing to state as a team. Medalist for the tournament was Central’s Justin Mccoy who shot a 67. The next closest score was a 69, which was shot by Morton’s Tommy Kuhl. Who would go on to win state as an individual. With his impressive first round 63 and followed his second round with a 66, which allowed him to set a new IHSA record of lowest score.
Ever heard of Ping Pong Club? It was just created by a freshman last year, Angela Xu. She’s a sophomore now and looking forward to a whole year of ping pong. Even with it being started just a few months before school ended last year, they now have over 80 people in the club, around 50 coming every week.
It’s October and that means MLB Playoffs! and the remaining teams as of now are the Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers, and the Astros. The teams that I think are going to the World Series are the Yankees and the Cubs. The team that will win the World Series is the Cubs although they are down 0-2 against the Dodgers. I have been a Cubs fan since I started watching baseball and because my family are fans too.
