The Centinal has decided to accept submissions of art, poetry, short stories, and comics in order to gain more support for The Centennial’s new and improved website! Students looking to submit a piece should send their work to firstname.lastname@example.org to be reviewed. There will be some rules regarding content we can display on our website.

This weekend several Centennial artists showed works at the Millikin University High School Art Show. Senior Pascale Grant received a $100 cash prize and $1,000 Millikin Scholarship with the Honorable Mention award for her mixed media piece, “Solitude”. Senior Amy Janson’s painting, “Simple Clarity”, earned Best in Show, with a $200 cash prize and $3,000 Millikin Scholarship. Congratulations to Grant and Janson and also to the other Charger artists. Melissa Corley, Alivia Dew, Nellie Huag, Ryan Ingersoll and Sophia Koester also had pieces in the show.

Centennial’s Haunted High will be ready to start your weekend off with a scare. All you need to do is bring $5 or warm winter gear donation (coats, hats, gloves, scarves) to experience the thrill of the Haunted Hospital. Let the fun begin on October 30th with a little gremlin hour from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and regular hours from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Centennial High School. Come out and be prepared to scream for the benefit of the Unit 4 Warm-A-Kid program.

On Tuesday, October 20th, 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the ACT Aspire Summative Test and 11th grade students will be taking a practice ACT Test. 12th grade students will not be in attendance. 9th and 10th graders will attend a full day and 11th graders will be dismissed after testing. A lunch break is included as part of the testing schedule. If you are testing, please bring a #2 pencil and a calculator for the math test if you wish to use one.

Come to room 119 on Friday, October 9th during 6th hour lunch. Students, teachers and administration will talk about issues related to Centennial’s Social Probation policy. Bring your opinions and be ready to eat some pizza.
This weekend Centennial Playmakers present the play Leading Ladies. Come see this funny farce on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Aldridge Auditorium at 7pm.
