The Illinois Fighting Illini football team capped off their non-conference schedule and first four games of the season this past weekend against Nebraska, and although it wasn’t the result they were looking for, they finished September with a 3-2 record. “We’ve got to be able, in my opinion, to look at some of the things that we’re doing well,” head coach Tim Beckman said after the Nebraska game. “We need to continue to move forward instead of dwelling on the negatives.”
Centennial Volleyball always has a competitive season; they’ve gone into the postseason every year since I can remember. Michael Finke is a senior at Centennial High School. He has announced that he will be signing on November 13, 2013 to play basketball for the University of Illinois. Finke plays as a power forward/center for the Chargers. When he goes to the U of I, he will be playing stretch forward as a pick and pop player or a pick and roll player. Though there is a lot of stress that comes with it, Finke is extremely excited to continue doing what he loves, which is playing basketball.
